Burundi Source of the Nile - Post Conference Excursion

Day 1:  10 June 2017

The delegates will visit Kigwena Park and reach Saga Nyanza along the Lake of Tanganyika. Kigwena site is a park where one can watch the monkeys when they are close to the road and Blue bay Resort is also a beach from where you can see the peninsula Bubwari in DRC. During the afternoon, the delegates will be back to Bujumbura.

After Tanganyika Blue Bay Resort, the delegates will visit Kigwena Park and reach Tanganyika Blue Imperial resort (Chateau Moss) along the Lake of Tanganyika. Kigwena site is a park where one can watch the monkeys when they are close to the road and Saga Nyanza is also a beach from where you can see the peninsula Bubwari in DRC. During the afternoon, the delegates will be back to Bujumbura.

After the Conference, delegates will depart from Bujumbura to Gitega, the second town of the country, located in the middle of Burundi. On the way, they will see Harroy siege at 13 km from Bujumbura and visit Bugarama, a site located on the Congo-Nile crest.

This is a line of the watershed basin of the Congo and the Nile River basins. At 15 km from the crest, delegates will visit the former royal palace of Muramvya.  After, they will depart to Gitega at 100 km from Bujumbura where they will visit four sites: Gitega National Museum, the Traditional drummers at Gishora site, the petroleum Park of Gitega and the Big tree representing the middle of  Burundi  site. The delegates  will  spend  the night in Gitega Town.
 
 

Day 2: 11 June 2017

The delegates will depart from Gitega to the Southern source of the Nile at 115 km from Bujumbura, in Bururi Province. On the way they will visit the faults of Germans and the BMM Base (Burundi Mining Metallurgy) at Musongati. After BMM site, the delegates will visite,Karera waterfalls and continue to the southern source of the Nile at Rutovu. From Rutovu, deleagtes will take the way back to Bujumbura via Ijenda.
